The 2025-26 UnionCountyHoops.com's Newcomer of the Year is Marvin Ridge junior Mac Habenicht. Habenicht, a junior transferred into Marvin Ridge and started for the Mavericks Wolf Pack as a wing and helped the Mavericks to a 22-6 record, and advanced to the Elite-8 of the NC 7A State playoffs for the first time in school history. Mac averaged 11.6 ppg with 3.0 assists per game while shooting 41% from 3 this season. Scored double figures in 17 games. Mac scored a season high of 22 points and 8 assists in a 77-69 win over Huss. Knocked down 6-of-7 3-pointers and finished with 18pts and the 48-37 win over Cuthbertson. Mac was named 2nd team All-UCHoops and All-SCC.

The 2025-26 UnionCountyHoops.com's Newcomer of the Year is Weddington freshman Myr Ukwu. Ms. Ukwu started every game for Coach Welch and helped lead Weddington to a 13-15 record and into the 2nd round of the NC State Playoffs. Myra finished her freshman season 2nd on the team in scoring 10.5 ppg, led the Warriors in grabbing 4.7 rebounds per game and 1.9 blocks per game. Myra scored a career high, 22 in a 57-47 win over Lainer HS in the Cherokee Christmas Tournament. Grabbed a career high 9 rebounds vs. East Meck. She blocked a career high 6 shots in win over McDowell. Ukwu was named 3rd team All-UCHoops as a freshman and named to the UCHoops All Newcomer Team. Myra was named the Week 7 UCHoops Player of the Week this season.
