The 1ST Annual UnionCountyHoops.com’s Come Back Player of the Year is Parkwood’s Peyton Collins. Collins injured her left knee on January 23rd in a win over CATA. The injury was devastating and thought it may end Peyton’s basketball career. Peyton fought through multiple surgeries and was able to get on the road to recovery. With the support from her family and friends, Peyton worked extremely hard in the offseason and was able to rehab and strengthen her knee resulting in her finally being cleared to play.
She made her Parkwood return on December 6th vs. Porter Ridge where she scored 7 points in the game. She dropped a season high 19 points (4-of-11 from 3) in the regular season finale which coincided with the team’s senior night and a win over CATA. Despite the injury and missing 11 games Peyton joined the 1000-point club and became the 18th player in Parkwood school history to score 1000 points in her career and finishes her Wolf Pack career with 1019 points. Congratulations Peyton it’s been a real pleasure to watch you play!!!
