Hunter Tyson (PM)

2017-18 BOYS PLAYER OF THE YEAR

The 2017-18 UnionCountyHoops.com’s Boys Player of the Year is Piedmont's Hunter Tyson. Tyson led Union Co. in scoring with 27.0 ppg and rebounding 10.3 rpg as a senior. Tyson dished 2.7 assists per game, 1.6 steals per game & blocked 1.0 shots per game for the Panthers.

Mr. Tyson became the Union Co. all-time scorer with 2131 career points and is the only member of the 2000 point club for boys. Hunter was named 1st team ALL-UCHOOPS.com, 1st team All-Distrct, 1st team All-SCC and was named SCC Player of the Year. Hunter was name UnionCountyHoops.com's Player of the Week for weeks 1, 2, 11 and 12. Tyson scored 703 points in 2017-18 which ranks 4th all time in Union Co. history. Tyson scored a season high 42 points in a 80-72 win over Parkwood and scored 39 in his final game as a Panther.

Hunter helped lead the Panthers to a 16-10 record and the 1st round of the state playoffs. Hunter is the first Piedmont Panther to win the UnionCountyHoops.com's Boys Player of the Year. Hunter would go to play at Clemson. Congrats Hunter!!!

Molly Setliff (PW)

2017-18 GIRLS PLAYER OF THE YEAR

The 2017-18 UnionCountyHoops.com’s Girls Player of the Year is Pakrwood's Molly Setliff. Ms. Setliff finished the 2017-18 season 3rd in Union Co. in scoring with a 17.2 ppg average and also led Union Co. in steals with a 4.7 per game average. Setliff also grapped 5.5 rebounds per game and had 3.2 assists per game. Ms. Setliff scored a season high 33 points in a 73-69 win over Piedmont and had 11 steals in a 58-39 win over Monroe. Molly joined the 1000 point club this season and finished her outstanding career at Parkwood with 1057 points..

Molly was named 1st Team All-UnionCountyHoops, All-SCC along with being named 2017-18 SCC Player of the Year and was named 2nd team All-District. Molly was named UnionCountyHoops.com's Player of the Week for weeks 4, 6, 9 and 13. Ms. Setliff helped lead the Parkwood Rebels to a 22-5 record into the 1st round 3A-state playoffs. Molly would go on to play at Lenoir-Rhyne. Congrats Molly!!!
