2015-16 BOYS PLAYER OF THE YEAR

The 2015-16 UnionCountyHoops.com’s Boys Player of the Year is Weddington’s Ryan Schwieger. Schwieger finished 3rd in Union Co. in scoring with 17.7 ppg (3rd in Union Co.). Ryan grabbed 7.9 rebounds per game (4th in Union Co.)from the guard position while dishing out 3.4 assists per game (2nd in Union Co.) and adding1.4 steals per game.

Mr. Schwieger scored a 32 points in a 57-41 win over Charlotte Christian and grabbed a career high 20 rebounds in a 64-44 win over Parkwood. Ryan was named 1st team ALL-UCHOOPS.com along with 1st team All-SCC and SCC Player of the Year. Ryan was name UnionCountyHoops.com's Player of the Week twice this season, week 1 and week 13.

Ryan helped lead the Warriors to a 21-6 record, a SCC title and SCC Tournament title along with reaching the 2nd round of the 3A state playoffs. Ryan is the 4th Weddington Warrior to win the Boys Player of the Year, joing Cory Rase ('08), Brandon Watts ('13) and Jordan Barber ('14). Congrats Ryan!!!

Brittany Autry (PW)

2015-16 GIRLS PLAYER OF THE YEAR

The 2014-15 UnionCountyHoops.com’s Girls Player of the Year is Parkwood’s Brittany Autry. Ms. Autry finished the 215-16 season 2nd in Union Co. in scoring with a 16.4 ppg average and also led Union Co. in rebounding with 12.6 rpg as well as blocking 1.2 shots a game. Ms. Autry scored a career high 33 points and grabbed a career high 21 rebounds in a 75-62 win over Sun Valley. Brittany eclipsed the 1000 point plateau for her Parkwood career and finished her 4-year career with 1298 points.

Brittany was named 1st Team All-Rocky River along with being named 2015-16 Rocky River Conference Player of the Year. Brittany was named UnionCountyHoops.com's Player of the Week for weeks 9 & 12. Ms. Autry helped lead the Parkwood Rebels to a 23-5 record, Rocky River title and Rocky River Conference tournament title and led the Rebels to the 3rd round of the 2A State Playoffs. Brittany was named 1st Team All-UCHOOPS for the 2nd year in a row. Brittany now joins Parkwood’s Morgan Brown as the UnionCountyHoop’s.com’s Player of the year (2011) in representing Parkwood high school! Brittany would go to play at Belmont Abbey. Congrats Brittany!!!
