2011-12 BOYS PLAYER OF THE YEAR

The 2010-11 UnionCountyHoops.com’s Boys Player of the Year is Sun Valley's Shaun Stewart.

Shaun Stewart helped lead the Sun Valley Spartans to a 22-5 record overall and an outright Southern Carolina Conference Title & SCC tournament title. The Spartans made it into the 1st round of the state’s 4A playoffs. Shaun Stewart finished the 2011-12 as Union Co.'s leading scorer by averaging 26.3 ppg. He was 8th in Union Co. in rebounding with a 6.8 rpg average. Stewart was 2nd in Union Co. in assists with 6.1 apg and led Union Co. in steals with 2.8 spg.

Shaun became Sun Valley's all- time leading scorer this season and finished his career with 1981 points. Shaun scored a career high 45 points against Anson Co. in the holiday tournament. Shaun won Player of the Week 4 times during the season. Shaun was named to the ALL-UnionCountyHoops.com's 1st team. He is the 1st back to back winner of the UnionCountyHoops.com’s Boys Player of the year award. Shaun was named All-District 1st team.

Shaun would go on to play basketball at Youngstown State, Limestone and professionaly in Australia

Jordan Henry (MR)

2011-2012 GIRLS PLAYER OF THE YEAR

The 2011-12 UnionCountyHoops.com’s Girls Player of the Year is Marvin Ridge's Jordan Henry.

Jordan Henry helped lead the Marvin Ridge Lady Mavericks to a 12-12 overall record and a birth to the 1st round of the state 3A playoffs. Jordan is just 1 of only 2 players to rank in the top 10 in points, rebounds, assists, steals and blocks in Union County this season. Jordan averaged 13.9 ppg and led Union Co. in rebounding with 15.3 rpg. She is the only post player in the assist leaders finishing 5th with 3.8 apg. She finished 3rd in Union Co with 4.3 steals and led Union Co. in blocks with 6.3 bpg. Jordan recorded 18 games with double figures in points and rebounds.

Ms.Henry finished the season with a triple double in a playoff loss to Harding. Jordan surpassed the 1000 point plateau for her career & is the all- time leading scorer (1021), rebounder (957) and shot blocker (280) for girls in Marvin Ridge school history. She was named player of the week 3 times this season as well as being named to the ALL-UnionCountyHoops.com's 1st team.

Jordan would go on to play basketball at Iona and UNC-Wilmington and professionaly in Australia.
