The Pirates graduated Jyana Salton (14.0 ppg/7.0 rpg) and Peyton Oliver (5.2 ppg/28% from 3) from last year’s team. The Pirates will focus the offense on Syd “The Kid” Blackwell. Blackwell finished 5th in Union Co. in scoring with a 16.3 ppg average ad was named 1st Team All-UCHoops. Sid shot 42% from 3 last season. Rising sophomore Miley Malcolm 5.9 ppg/5.3 apg) led Union Co. in assists and 6th man of the year for UCHoops and will be the starting poing gaurd. Malcolm, a freshman was named to the UCHoop All-newcomer team last year. 6'1 wing Anna Scaldra is a solid rim protector and rebounder (5.7 ppg/6.5 rpg/1.4 bpg) while doing the dirty work for the Pirates. Keep an eye on freshman wing Ashanti Taylor. Taylor, a 5'10 wing has offers from UNC-Charlotte and Gardner-Webb. The Pirates open the 2023-24 season on Nov 21st hosting Union Academy.
